Juraj Droba was born on May 25, 1971 in Bratislava. In 2017, he was elected President of the Bratislava Region and defended this post again in the municipal elections in 2022.
Since 2020, he has held the position of Vice-president of the Committee of Regions (CoR) Bureau, Vice-president of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group, and Vice-coordinator of the ECR Group in the Commission for Territorial Cohesion Policy and EU Budget (COTER). Since 2018, he has been the President of the Slovak Delegation of the European Committee of the Regions and a member of the Commission for Social Policy, Education, Employment, Research and Culture (SEDEC).
He graduated in English Language and Literature from Comenius University in Bratislava. He earned an MBA at the University of Pittsburgh and later studied political science at George Washington University in the United States. He also studied at Georgetown University and Rijksuniversiteit Gent in Belgium. After finishing his studies, he worked in the private sector. He held the position of Director of the External Relations Division at T-Mobile Slovensko, a.s.
He is one of the six founders of the Freedom and Solidarity party. He actively entered politics in 2010 as a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. He has been involved in municipal politics since 2017. He speaks English, German, Dutch, Russian and can also communicate in Spanish.
